JACQUELINE H. HARTIS

Mrs. Hartis currently concentrates her practice in the area of environmental law. She is licensed to practice law in the states of Kansas (2002) and Missouri (2001).

Experience
Mrs. Hartis is an Associate with The Session Law Firm.

Mrs. Hartis has represented parties in several private cost recovery and contribution actions brought under Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Additionally, she has represented numerous clients in administrative proceedings before the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Mrs. Hartis also has experience dealing with treatment, storage and disposal facilities regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Further, she has advised clients regarding issues of regulatory compliance, and represented clients in state administrative proceedings.

Mrs. Hartis has represented clients threatened with criminal sanctions under federal environmental statutes. She also has experience in the representation of clients in contribution actions involving the cleanup of environmentally impaired property for potential development.

Prior to obtaining employment with The Session Law Firm, Mrs. Hartis gained considerable experience in the field of insurance defense litigation, specifically the areas of personal injury, property loss, wrongful death and products liability related to accidents involving automobiles, commercial trucks and tractor/trailers, for insurers such as Hartford Insurance Company and Saint Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company.

Mrs. Hartis has considerable trial experience from the prosecution of felony and misdemeanor offenses.

Mrs. Hartis has done extensive research, drafting of pleadings and appellate briefs, site investigations and legal correspondence.

Mrs. Hartis is a member of the American Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association and the Missouri Bar Association.

Education
Mrs. Hartis received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas School of Law, Lawrence, Kansas in May, 2001. She received the Payne & Jones Award for Best Appellate Brief and Oral Argument in 1999, was Vice-Justice of Phi Alpha Delta in 1999-2000 and Vice-President of First Year Class, 1998-1999.

Mrs. Hartis received her Bachelor of Arts, with Honors in Environmental Studies from the University of Kansas in 1997 and graduated magna cum laude.
