JOSEPH L. VAN ACKEREN Mr. Van Ackeren concentrates his practice in the area of litigation and alternative dispute resolution. His experience includes resolution of commercial disputes, personal injury, products liability, professional malpractice and environmental issues. He has successfully tried cases to juries in Missouri and Kansas and argued before the Missouri Court of Appeals. Mr. Van Ackeren has experience representing individuals and businesses in state and federal lawsuits. His experience in the area of commercial litigation includes representing construction companies, pest control companies, real-estate agents and brokers, insurance agents, retail business owners, homeowners and many others. Mr. Van Ackeren’s experience in the personal injury field includes representing plaintiffs and defendants in lawsuits involving automobiles, tractor-trailers, premises liability, nursing home liability, healthcare negligence and product liability. He has experience in cost recovery actions brought under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Mr. Van Ackeren’s experience in consumer protection includes representing individuals in claims arising from the Fair Debt Reporting Act and the Kansas Consumer Protection Act. Mr. Van Ackeren is licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, United States District Court for the District of Kansas, United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, and the state courts of Missouri and Kansas.
